Last year we experimented with a book writing project for parents to improve both their writing and computer skills. The result is a child’s book written by the adults specifically for their children. Every book is unique and the main character is the child, creating a compelling story for parent and child to experience together. This project has evolved from creating a simple story or picture book into a tool that will bring parent and child closer together while reinforcing literary skills. We couldn't have predicted how much energy and effort were expended in this creative endeavor and the results speak for themselves.
This year we re-imagined the project and parents created alphabet books for their children. Once again, the creativity of our parents amazed us as they took to the project with enthusiasm and created personal and beautiful alphabet books to help their children learn. The following book selections represent the hard work and dedication of the parents in our program. While all of the books created were wonderful, some books went beyond our greatest expectations and their author's have agreed to share them here. Click on a book title to read an excerpt.
