Our Staff
Who We AreThe services we provide would not be possible without the dedication of our staff who work diligently to provide the best support possible to the Readiness Center, and the children and families who pass through our doors.
Sister Paulita Walters R.S.M - The founder of Readiness Center Inc., Sister Paulita is the driving force for the center. Her vision and dedication has brought the Readiness Center from a dream with humble beginnings to the crucial program it has become in the community.
Sister Sharon Wedig R.S.M - Our administrative guru, Sister Sharon comes to us from the administration of the hospitals of the Sisters of Mercy. With her unassuming passion for ministry to the less fortunate, Sr. Sharon has helped guide the growth of the Readiness Center to maintain its mission while serving as many families as possible and remaining a privately funded organization.
Ann Huddleston - Ann has been driving children and adults to the Readiness Center for over 25 years. Her love for the children, the mission of the Readiness Center, and the vision of Sister Paulita is her guiding force as she drives the van helping new families get to the center each year.
Shari Lusk - Shari has been with the Readiness Center since 1991. In that time she has watched many children come and go through the pre-school program. Shari loves watching the children progress through the program and seeing them grow.
Angie Hines - For the past 13 years Angie has helped Sister Paulita and Sister Sharon keep the office running smoothly. Angie loves watching the children come and go through the center, often running past the office in their excitement to start their day, or crying on their way out because they don't want to leave.
Marsha Taylor - Marsha has been 'playing' in the pre-school room for over 12 years. Labeled the "queen of play," Marsha orchestrates the make-believe play that is vital to the budding creativity of children. Marsha knows the toys and their places blindfolded, keeping the pre-school room a well organized space for both learning and play.
Christine Sherene - Christine is in her third year working with the parents at the Readiness Center. She loves learning the new personalities the children and their parents bring to the center. Christine especially loves getting the dads involved in projects, telling them they "won't lose any cool points." Christine is looking forward to this year's Dads and Kids program.
Peggy Brown - A pre-school teacher in Benton Harbor for many years, Peggy spends her time at the Readiness Center providing tutoring for the children in the 'city-kids' after-school program.
Lorissa Wilson - Lorissa joined the pre-school staff after years of volunteering. Her previous experience with the Readiness Center has provided the growing classroom with much needed help.
Martha Thieneman - Martha is thrilled to be 'officially' a part of the Readiness Center. After years of volunteering and being an advocate for the center's programs, Martha is grateful for the opportunity to work on various projects and to help spread the word of the great work being done at the Readiness Center.
